Mission Statement: The
CORNERSTONE GALLERY is dedicated to
presenting beautiful and functional
contemporary works of art suitable for
gift giving at an affordable price, to
promoting the talents of American
artists and to educating the public
about art and its importance in our
daily lives.
Founded in 1993 by glass artist,
Nancy Jo Dillman, the CORNERSTONE GALLERY
is situated on a prominent corner of the historic
Courthouse Square in downtown Baraboo.
It is housed in 133-year old Italian Revival
limestone building listed on the
NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES and contains a unique collection
of contemporary American fine art and
designer craft. The gallery features the work of
over 150 artists working in a wide range
of media, including jewelry, pottery,
wood, stained and blown glass, paintings
and prints, kaleidoscopes, clocks,
frames, scarves and sculpture.
Although we carry work from around the
country, we are proud to emphasize the
talents of our many local and regional
artists.
In
2006 the gallery was purchased by
Christine Kortbein, an art therapist and
teacher, who has lived in Baraboo with
her husband and two daughters since
1998. Originally from St. Charles,
Illinois, Christine grew up in Appleton,
Wisconsin. She received her
undergraduate degree in Psychology from
the University of Wisconsin - Stout in
Menomonie and her Masters Degree in Art
Therapy from the University of Wisconsin
- Superior.
Downtown Baraboo
is a vibrant and thriving shopping
district filled with a potpourri
of small specialty
shops, galleries and cafe's, as well as
the incomparable
