Carol Mueller
Having grown up on a small dairy farm in
eastern Wisconsin, I continue to enjoy
experiencing the natural world close up.
I garden, bike, hike and bird watch.
In my work I attempt to capture the
excitement of the out-of-doors with big
shapes, dramatic design and intense
color. My paintings loosely
represent the actual object, verging on
abstraction, and evoke all of the
emotion of discovering the enormously
creative force and beauty found in the
natural world. My interest in
watercolor began in the early 1980's as
a collector of original works.
About fifteen years later, in the
mid-1990's, I decided to plunge into the
medium. I first studied with
artists in the Madison area and then
attended workshops with many
nationally-known watercolor artists, the
most influential being Barbara Nechis,
Diane Maxey and Tom Francesoni.
