Gregg Hessel
A Wisconsinite by birth, metal smith
Gregg Hessel
now works his magic on raw
copper in San Rafael, California, about
30 miles north of San Francisco.
Hessel Studios produces over 40
hand-forged copper candlesticks, each
with its own distinctive design, which
range in height from 8" to 28" and in
price from $96 to $258. Each
candlestick is given a mythical or
romantic name, like "Callisto" or
"Flirtation", which is etched on the
underside of the base. The
polished surface can be maintained by
using a good quality non-abrasive metal
polish and a soft cloth. Some
people prefer to keep the surface
un-polished so that, over time, it
develops a rich, warm color reminiscent
of a fine antique.
